About the event
This month we’re swapping ALL TYPES OF HOLIDAY DECOR + COSTUMES. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, winter, whatever holiday you celebrate — bring it on. Decorations, lights, ornaments, wreaths, costumes, wigs, accessories, table decor, yard decor… if you’re done with it but someone else could use it, we want it here.
We throw away a LOT during the holidays. Household trash in the U.S. increases by about 25% between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, and costumes add to the already enormous amount of textile waste we generate every year.
So instead of buying something new for a celebration this year, let’s see what our neighbors already have.
Everything at the swap is FREE. No selling. No trading item-for-item. No need to bring something to take something. The goal is simple: keep perfectly good stuff out of the landfill and help a neighbor who may not have the extra money to celebrate this…
